Dear KHS Parents and Care Givers:
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I am excited to welcome our students and staff back to school! The first day is Tuesday, September 8th.
Although student schedules are available in late August on the student portal, we will distribute student ID’s, schedules, and YONDR cell-phone pouches for students Monday, August 31st and Tuesday September 1st: 8-10 AM and 12 PM-2 PM in the Salzmann entryway.
BIG CHANGE: KHS-TV is no longer during 1st period which means that the academic school day begins promptly at 7:45 AM and students are expected to be in their first period seats by that time.
Students walking or bussing to school can enter the building starting at 7:15 AM. Parents driving their students to school must use the KHS side of Broadway, Peter Street, or Andrew Street. Please do not use staff parking lots to drop off students. Supervised waiting areas for students include the auditorium, field house, and cafeteria. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria, and we are pleased to announce that breakfast and lunch are at no cost to our students!
Ninth period is an extra help period. Students should plan to stay 9th period for extra help, to make up missed work from absences, or when failing a class. Students who continue to arrive late to school will be issued detention during 9th period as we want to instill the importance of being on time for school. Kingston High School prioritizes accountability and ownership and hopes to transfer these values to our students. There are also clubs and activities happening during 9th period. We will continue to offer late bus transportation.
Kingston High School remains a cell-phone free learning environment. When students enter the building, they will place their cell phones in YONDR pouches, and these will be magnetically closed. Students will carry the pouch on their person through the school day and will unlock these pouches at dismissal. We have phones in every classroom and students can call home if needed throughout the day. Additionally, families are welcome to call the school, and we can communicate messages to students.
Many files and school resources will be available electronically to students on Microsoft Teams. Each teacher will let students know what specific supplies they need, and our high school always has extra supplies available for students who are unable to purchase them. Students may not bring technology to school (iPads, Macs, personal laptops) to use instead of their chromebooks.
