Staying Healthy in the Winter Season
We hope you enjoyed a restful Winter Break! As we return to classrooms, we're entering peak season for respiratory illnesses like the flu, COVID-19, and RSV. Here are some essential practices to keep our community healthy and safe:
● Wash hands frequently with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds
● Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow
● Stay home when feeling unwell
● Keep up with recommended seasonal vaccinations
● Avoid close contact with sick individuals
● Consider wearing a mask in crowded spaces, especially if you have underlying health conditions
What to Do if You or a Family Member Feels Ill
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that individuals who exhibit flu symptoms upon arrival at work/school or during the day should promptly isolate themselves from others and return home. They should remain home for at least 24 hours after their fever subsides (without the use of fever-reducing medications), or after symptoms have improved (typically at least 4-5 days after flu symptoms initially appear).
We'd also like to take this opportunity to remind parents to update their emergency contact information if they haven't already done so. They can do so by contacting the main office at their child’s school.
All these measures will help contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy environment for learning. We are grateful for your commitment to these practices and wish your family a healthy and safe winter season.
